The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program provides an upfront discount on the cost of replacing your gas or inefficient heating system with a high-efficiency reverse cycle air conditioner.
The discount is not a cashback. It is applied at the point of installation — you pay the reduced price on the day.
Rebate amounts are based on current VEEC values and system size. Your exact figure is confirmed at quote stage.

Common Questions From Homeowners
Does reverse cycle work in Melbourne winters?
Yes. Modern reverse cycle systems are designed to operate efficiently at temperatures down to -15°C. Melbourne's winter lows rarely drop below 3–5°C. You will not lose performance on cold days.
Can I keep my gas connection after the install?
Yes. Removing your gas heater does not require you to disconnect your entire gas supply. You can retain gas for other appliances (e.g. cooktop). However, removing gas completely eliminates your daily gas supply charge — an additional saving of $200–$400/year depending on your retailer.
Can I claim the rebate if I'm replacing an existing air conditioner (not gas)?
Yes — a reduced VEU discount is available when upgrading an existing inefficient reverse cycle system to a high-efficiency model. The rebate is not as large as a gas-replacement, but it is still available. We'll confirm the amount at quote.
Is there a free air conditioner offer under the VEU program?
No. The VEU program does not allow free installations. Minimum customer co-payments of $200 (under 10kW) or $1,000 (over 10kW) are required. Any company advertising a "free" air conditioner under VEU is either misrepresenting the program or hiding costs elsewhere. Be cautious.
Will a multi-head system heat my whole home the same way ducted does?
In most homes, yes — and often more efficiently, because you only condition the rooms you're using. Ducted systems heat every room whether it's occupied or not. Multi-head with zone control gives you more precise control over where your energy goes.
How long does the rebate process take?
Your rebate is applied as an upfront discount — you pay the reduced price on the day of installation. There is no waiting for reimbursement. We submit the VEEC documentation on your behalf post-install.
Do I need to do anything to apply for the rebate?
No. We handle the entire rebate process — product registration, VEEC assignment forms, and submission to the ESC. You sign where required. We do the rest.
Is the rebate available for rental properties?
Yes. Private rental properties are eligible under the VEU program. We recommend landlords and tenants discuss and agree on the upgrade before proceeding. We can assist with communication if needed.
