Can I really stack rebates across all three appliances?
Yes. Each appliance upgrade qualifies for its own rebate under the VEU program, and they can be claimed in the same project. Hot water, heating and cooling, and cooktop are all separately eligible. Do I have to replace all three appliances at once, or can I do one at a time?
You can do them separately if you prefer. Each upgrade is independently eligible for its own rebate. However, doing all three in a single job saves on mobilisation costs, allows your switchboard to be sized correctly once, and simplifies the rebate paperwork. We'll outline both options at the quote stage so you can decide what makes financial sense for your situation.
Will I be able to disconnect gas entirely after the upgrade?
Once all gas appliances are replaced, you can contact your gas network operator to have the gas line disconnected and eliminate the standing charge you pay quarterly just to remain connected. We advise on this process after installation. The savings from removing the standing charge typically add up to $200–$400 per year.
How much will I have to pay out of pocket?
No installation under the VEU program is free — any company advertising a free upgrade is either misrepresenting the program or cutting corners. Your actual out-of-pocket cost depends on your specific property, the appliances being replaced, and current VEEC values. We confirm your exact cost — with all rebates deducted upfront — before you commit to anything.
How long does a full home electrification take?
Most full home electrification jobs are completed in one to two days depending on your property configuration and whether a switchboard upgrade is required. We provide a full timeline as part of your quote. You won't be left without hot water or heating overnight in the middle of a job.
Is the rebate available for rental properties?
Yes. Renters are eligible under the VEU program — landlord consent is required. For owner-occupiers accessing the Solar Homes rebate component, the property must be owner-occupied. We'll clarify exactly which rebates apply to your tenancy situation during the eligibility check.
Does everything work with my existing solar panels?
Yes. Heat pumps, reverse cycle air conditioning, and induction cooktops are all fully compatible with rooftop solar. When paired with solar, your heat pump and induction cooktop can run during the day on excess solar generation — reducing your running costs to near zero on sunny days.
Do I need to do anything to apply for the rebate?
